Create a new document thats is 500px x 500px.

Ensure the rulers are on (press CTRL + R) and set the measurements to 'pixels' - do this by right clicking on the rukers and tick 'pixels'.

Draw rulers on the canvas to create two rectangular shapes.

Create two folders in the layers paletts, "side" and "front" to hold the different layers for each side of the box.

Create the artwork for the front and side of your box.

Merge the layers of each folder ("side" and "front") to create two individual layers for each side of the box.

Move the side of the box, so that it meets with the front of the box.

Select "Distort" from the "Transform" section of the "Edit" menu and move the top left corner of the front part of the box downward by 50 pixels and move the bottom left corner upwards by 50 pixels.

Select "Distort" from the "Transform" section of the "Edit" menu and move the top right corner of the side of the box downward by 50 pixels and move the bottom right corner upwards by 50 pixels.

Observe the finished 3D box in Photoshop. How quick, easy, and painless was that?
